Kent Search and Rescue help Kent Police find 24-year-old man who disappeared during night out in Staplehurst

A 24-year-old man who disappeared during a night out with friends has been found safe and well.

A Kent Search and Rescue team found the man walking along a road several miles away from Staplehurst earlier today.

He had been drinking in the village with a group of friends when he disappeared. When asked by the search team where he had been he had no recollection.

Kent Police were called late last night and opted to call the search and rescue team at around 6.30am this morning.

A spokesman from the charity said the man had drunk far too much and was very embarrassed by the fuss he had caused.

Maidstone district commander chief inspector Mick Gardner said: "I would like to extend my personal thanks to the volunteers at KSAR who once again did a sterling job to ensure

"‘The man was not familiar with the local area and lost contact with his friends after leaving the house for some fresh air.

"We were very concerned for his welfare as the temperature was below freezing and he was not wearing warm clothes, so it was a great relief to us all that he was found safe and well."
