When Roger and Jacqueline Edmonds took over the Teiseside Nursery from her parents, they tried to make a go of it by growing runner beans.
The venture was not successful. So instead, hoping to cash in on the new trend for "staycations", the couple sought planning permission to erect three "shepherds' huts" on the land off Lees Road in Laddingford to let out as holiday stays.
Maidstone council granted permission in July last year, provided the huts were only occupied between April 1 and September 30.
The couple have now finished the construction and fitting out of the one-bedroom holiday stays, which have been manufactured from mobile classrooms which they bought from the education authority in Lincolnshire.
Mr Edmonds, from East Peckham, said: "They're ready to go and we're looking forward to welcoming our first customers.
"I'm a taxi driver really, but there's been precious little money in that during the Covid pandemic."
The huts are being marketed through Hoseasons Cottages.
