Two key roads in Paddock Wood to close for six weeks while South East Water lays new mains

10:55, 21 July 2024

Several roads will close next week for six weeks as work continues to renew a town’s water pipes.

The second phase of a £900,000 project to upgrade Paddock Wood’s water supply will see South East Water returning to continue laying more than one kilometre of new pipeline.

Gedges Hill and Chantler’s Hill will be closed from Tuesday as a result.

Jeremy Dufour, project manager for South East Water, said: “This vital project will ensure we can continue to supply top quality drinking water and maintain pressure to existing customers as the community grows.

“We know road closures are disruptive and frustrating and they are a last resort.

“We’re aiming to complete the second and final phase of the project within the school summer holidays.

“To minimise disruption, our team will be working extended hours, from 7am to 7pm during the week, and between 8am and 4pm on Saturdays.”

A diversion will be in place via the B2017 Badsell Road, the A229 Colts Hill, the A21 and the B2160 Maidstone Road.
