A229 Staplehurst Road near Marden closed in both directions after crash involving two vehicles

A driver has suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash on a road between Staplehurst and Linton.
Another motorist has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the horrific crash on the A229 Staplehurst Road at 5pm today.
The road was closed in both directions following the crash involving a Land Rover Discovery and a blue Volkswagen Golf.
Two people were cut free from the wreckage following the accident.
The driver of the Golf, a man in his 60s, was taken to a hospital in London with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Land Rover, a man in his late 40s, was also injured and taken to a local hospital.
He has since been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Sergeant Scott Lynch, of Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit said: "This occurred at a very busy time of the day and when a large amount of people would have been in the area.
"We believe there may have been a number of motorists who may have information, but who perhaps may not have been able to stop at the time.
