Drivers advised to avoid Goudhurst Road, Marden, while firefighters deal with fuel spillage

A village road remains closed this evening after a large fuel spillage.
Firefighters were called to Goudhurst Road, Marden, near Maidstone, at about 4pm today.
The road has been shut near the junction with Plain Road and as of 8.30pm it remained closed off.
A fire service spokesman said firefighters were called to the spill and one fire engine had been sent, with drivers advised to avoid the area.
At 8.35pm, they added: "Goudhurst Road remains closed following a fuel spill, and duty of care has been handed to Kent Highways."
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called by Kent Fire and Rescue Service at around 4.25pm regarding a report of a fuel spillage on Goudhurst Road, Marden.
"Officers are currently at the scene assisting fire crews. Goudhurst Road is closed near the junction with Plain Road. Motorists should consider alternative routes."
