Combined Ops Military Vehicle and Airshow at Headcorn Aerodrome will have the biggest collection of craft so far

The largest collection of classic aircraft and military vehicles will line up for the eighth annual Combined Ops Military Vehicle and Airshow at Headcorn this weekend.

The hugely popular event at Headcorn Aerodrome, which will be held on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14, will also celebrate the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Supermarine Spitfire.

The family event, which includes static military vehicles, living history re-enactment groups, arena events and military stalls as well as a funfair, bouncy castle and this year there will be a children’s soft play area.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Supermarine Spitfire, the Royal Air Force’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be displaying, with a Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane.

AeroLegends will be flying their DH Devon alongside the Spitfire TD314 and will be joined by the MK IX and TIX Spitfires.

The weekend of fun-packed activities will be the largest collection of classic aircraft and military vehicles and will include thrilling air displays with legendary Second World War aircraft and aerobatics displays.

The South Pacific War is the theme for this year’s ground and air activities and organisers are encouraging visitors to get out their grass skirts (weather permitting) and sailor outfits.

More than 350 military vehicles, from the humble military motorcycle to main battle tanks, will all be on display.

Other attractions include history and re-enactment group displays, model aircraft demonstrations, tank rides and trips in the aerobatic Spitfire trainer the Harvard plane or the very rare Percival Prentice.
