Underground festival circuit favourites Lapis Lazuli are bringing their latest project, Alien, to the stage.
The band, formed out of the Canterbury scene in 2008, will perform a 40-minute sci-fi epic at the Gulbenkian Theatre on Friday, February 6.
They cite influences ranging from progressive rock, math rock, funk and jazz, using an eclectic mix of instruments to put their sound together.
Drummer Adam Brodigan said: “We write epic pieces of music that take you on a journey – we love to push the boundaries and play with people’s expectations.”
Lapis Lazuli’s two debut albums, Reality Is and Extended Play, were recorded in 2012.
The releases were followed by a month-long European tour culminating in shows at Zappanale in Germany and the International Festival of Performing Arts in Aurillac, France.
The show starts in the Gulbenkian Theatre on Friday, February 6 at 9pm. Tickets cost £7 or £5 to students. Visit www.thegulbenkian.co.uk or call 01227 769075.
