MEDIEVAL MERRIMENT, ROCHESTER CASTLE

As part of summer activities in Medway, visitors can experience castle life as it would have been on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11, from 10am to 5pm. See the living history camp, watch the trebuchet fired and see archery and falconry displays, a courtly jester and enjoy heritage trails. Entry to the castle gardens is free. PIRATE TRAIL, UPNOR CASTLE

Children can create pirate finger puppets, telescopes, eye patches and ships at the Barrack Block at Upnor Castle, from 10.30am to 3.30pm as part of summer family activities through to Sunday, September 1.There's also a chance to win a prize. CHILDREN'S CHARACTERS, SPA VALLEY RAILWAY

Peppa Pig will be popping in to meet youngsters travelling on the railway from Tunbridge Wells on Thursday, August 8 and again on Thursday, August 22.

She will be at Groombridge Stations waiting to greet everyone at intervals in the day. PAW Patrol's popular pups will also be at the station on Thursday, August 15 and again on Thursday, August 29. To book go to spavalleyrailway.com

ACTIVE AUGUST, MALL MAIDSTONE

Running throughout this month until Sunday, August 25, Active August is a chance to win a prize of a £500 shopping spree, with fun and interactive fitness and health experiences in the centre. Pop to the Ask Me More Point in the Upper Level and pick up a pedometer and interactive map and then visit checkpoints to play games, learn facts and join in with exercises – all to increase their step count and spell a mystery word. Games include floor graphics like Snakes and Ladders, Twister and Hopscotch and when completed, get a sticker at the Ask Me Point for a possible prize. Weekly prizes up for grabs include an archery set, cricket set and football and goal net set.

THE BEACH AT BLUEWATER

A sandy beach, water to take a dip in, fairground rides and games - plus deck chairs to relax in while you feel the sand between your toes are all on offer at the shopping centre's beach, which is back for a third year. The specially constructed seaside replacement at The Village car park has some new, thrilling rides this year and Punch and Judy shows and bubble workshops.

FERRET ROADSHOW, KENT LIFE

As part of summer fun at the farming attraction in Sandling, Maidstone, you can learn all about ferrets and join in with a Ferret Fun Run from Monday. August 12 to Friday, August 16. Shows run three times a day. There's also a magic show, Lucy Lost It, until Friday, August 9. More details at kentlife.org.uk

SIEGE! AT DOVER CASTLE

Dover Castle has had to cancel its Siege! weekend, reliving real events from 800 years ago, due to the weather, but the castle is still open to visitors. Details at english-heritage.org.uk/dovercastle

TEMPLE MANOR, MEDWAY

The holiday fun will be happening at weekends between 11am and 4pm until Sunday, September 1, with making medieval banners, shield sun catchers and a knight’s goblet during craft sessions. SUMMER FUN, WILDWOOD

ROYAL VICTORIA PLACE, TUNBRIDGE WELLS

Little shoppers can step into the wild this summer with an interactive line-up of events at Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells. The country garden themed experience which runs until Bank Holiday Monday, August 26 with appearances from larger than life creatures including a giant Barn Owl puppet who will be taking flight on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There will be fun and games with Deer Darlington the Deer and Nancy Nutkins the Squirrel, who will be leading storytelling sessions. Families can join the Eco Explorers on one of the educational trails around the centre to learn about the wonders of nature as see inside a fox’s family den and explore a country meadow.

Plus there will be crafts at the Enchanted Activity Garden on level 1 opposite Marks and Spencer. Events are free and there's a draw to win £100 worth of toys. The attraction is open daily. Full event details and times are available at royalvictoriaplace.com
