From bats to birds and flora to fauna, you’ll be able to note it all at Bedgebury Pinetum this weekend.
The Forestry Commission site is holding its second BioBlitz, where visitors join the experts to carry out a fast and furious intensive 48-hour survey of the different flora and fauna at the Goudhurst site.
Running on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20, you can help find and record the different species of plants, birds, bats, insects, pond life and mammals living there, to be fed into a national database monitoring wildlife.
There will be guided walks, talks and demonstrations, as well as activities for children.
Dan Luscombe from Bedgebury said: “This is the second BioBlitz we’ve held. From wild flower walks and bug hunting, to bat detecting and bird watching – there will be something for everyone. This year you’ll also be able to join Bedgebury’s team of tree experts and help them discover and learn about the wonderful unseen world of our canopy dwelling pinetum residents.”
For details visit forestry.gov.uk/bedgebury and for places on some expert-led guided walks, which cost £10, or £5 for eight to 15-year-olds, call 01580 879842.
