Poet and writer Vita Sackville-West began transforming Sissinghurst Castle in the 1930s with her author husband, Harold Nicolson. Now the castle garden is a National Trust mecca for garden fans and the castle has a fascinating history, which includes having been a home for the women’s land army and a family home.
