Turn your body into a canvas for incredible art at the Maidstone Tattoo Extravaganza, hosted at the Kent Showground.
The Maidstone Tattoo Extravaganza, which takes place just outside of the county town in Detling, invites the best tattoo artists in the business to show off their work over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
This independent exhibition, organised by Fraser and Samantha Williams from Maidstone, has been showcasing the weird and wonderful world of body modification since 2017.
Celebrating the work of talented artists and traders, the convention is set to be a spectacular weekend of visual wonders.
Event organiser Fraser Williams has confirmed that 78 artists have so far been confirmed and will be etching their ink throughout the weekend, from independent artists to larger studios.
Kent-based tattoo studios, including the Alex Crook Studio and Birch Tree Studios in Sittingbourne, Clockwork Ink in Faversham, Stainless Steve’s in Maidstone and the Tattoo Emporium in Sevenoaks, will be setting up shop at the Kent Showground over the Easter bank holiday.
The show also welcomes tattooists from around the world, including artists from Italy and Turkey. In the past, the convention has hosted studios from France, Malta and Spain.
Visitors can discuss their design ideas with artists, check out the studio’s flash tattoos and even book themselves in to get a tattoo at the exhibition.
Previous years have included live bands and entertainment, such as fire-breathers and dancers. However, due to Covid-19 there will not be any live performers at this year's convention, but there will be music played out of speakers across the three days to keep you entertained while you wait your turn in the chair.
There will also be plenty of refreshments on offer, including mouth-watering street food from Sittingbourne-based Grumpy Dads Grill.
While you flip through the folders of flash designs, you can also check out the various traders, who will be selling everything from intricate art prints to body modification accessories.
Whether you’re contemplating your first ever tattoo or fancy a full sleeve, you can find the right artist and design for you at the Maidstone Tattoo Extravaganza.
Visit from Saturday, 16 April to Easter Monday from 9am to 5pm. Tickets start from £13 online, or £10 on the day. Book online here or call 07984 916 932 for more details.
