Cheers! It's time to celebrate the county's hop crop in its purest form with Kent Green Hop Fortnight.
Each year brewers and their devotees across the county come together to celebrate Kent’s hops in their most fresh form.
The fortnight, which runs from Friday, September 24 to Sunday, October 10, celebrates green hop beer which is beer brewed from hops before they are dried - and time is of the essence as they have to be picked and brewed within 12 hours.
The beers have a characteristic fresh taste because the hops used contain many of the oils that are normally lost when hops are dried.
The fortnight is a chance to taste newly-released beers made from just-harvested hops produced by more than 30
local brewers.
Brewers across the county are producing the beers this year including Maidstone-based Goachers, Iron Pier in Gravesend, Mad Cat Brewery in Faversham and Musket Brewery in Maidstone.
Dozens of pubs across the county will also be serving green hop beers including the Pearson's Arms in Whitstable, the Beer Seller in Tonbridge, Ye Olde Thirsty Pig in Maidstone, the Charles Dickens in Broadstairs and the Furlongs Ale House in Faversham.
Festivals celebrating the brew include the Broadstairs Food and Drink Festival from October 1 to 3 and the Spa Valley Railway Real Ales and Cider Festival on the same dates, both in the second week of the fortnight.
