It’s time to don your cheesiest Christmas jumper and help raise money for charity.
This year’s Christmas Jumper Day will see millions of people across the country put on their favourite festive knits and make a donation to help vulnerable children all over the world.
This year, the official Christmas Jumper Day falls on Thursday, December 7 and lots of Kent’s workplaces, schools and community groups are expected to take part.
The annual event is organised by Save the Children, a charity that helps kids facing issues such as war, illness, hunger and poverty.
The charity’s first Christmas Jumper Day took place in December 2012 and, since then, the festive event has raised more than £35 million for children across the UK and worldwide.
Last year, participants raised £5 million, with more than 2 million school children and 24,000 workplaces taking part.
Those who sign up are asked to donate £2 and can also encourage others to donate towards the cause.
You can sign up for this year’s Christmas Jumper Day online here. You will also receive a fundraising resource pack after signing up.
Then, simply wear your favourite Christmas jumper on Thursday and donate your money on JustGiving any time, or via the Save the Children website.
The charity is also advising people to be resourceful this year. Instead of buying a new jumper, you can reuse jumpers from previous years or make your own by decorating a plain jumper with stickers, tinsel, glitter and baubles.
