An annual festival has been renamed to include a range of spring celebrations from around the globe.
Ashford’s Holi Festival, which previously took place in Victoria Park, is now known as the Indian Spring Festival and will be held at Civic Park, near Tannery Lane.
The event will still commemorate Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours, which signifies the triumph of good over evil and marks the end of winter.
The Hindu festival, which officially took place in March this year, is often enjoyed with colourful dye, bonfires and dancing.
Last month, thousands of people turned out to join in with the Holi festivities in Dartford’s Central Park.
However, this year’s Indian Spring Festival is not limited to just one occasion.
The event will also include Vaisakhi, a harvest celebration originating in Punjab and Northern India that falls on Saturday, April 13, and Eid al-Fitr, an Islamic holiday marking the end of the month-long fasting of Ramadan.
There will also be some Easter activities during the day.
The aim of the festival, organised by local charity Indians in Ashford, is to create a more “integrated and inclusive” environment and help people “understand their fellow community members”.
There will be authentic street food from different regions of India, Bollywood dance workshops, henna tattoos, face painting and colour powder.
Kids can also take part in an Easter egg hunt, learn how to fly kites with hands-on demonstrations and dance to traditional Indian tunes played by the DJ.
The Indian Spring Festival takes place on Saturday, May 11. Tickets cost £5 and can be booked here.
The festival will be open from 5pm to 10pm.
