Rainy days attractions in Kent: Dickens World, Chatham

10:20, 10 June 2015

For children who like reading or history, Dickens World is the ideal place for fun and interactive learning.

Based in Chatham where Dickens spent his early years and attended school, this exciting venue will take the kids on a journey like none they’ve every experienced before.

Dickens World gives you a 90 minute interactive guided tour that takes you back in time to Charles Dickens’ Victorian England.

Visit reproductions of the streets the Great Expectations author once walked down or see the places in his stories such as Peggotty’s Boathouse mentioned in David Copperfield.

While most of his novels are read by older children or teenagers and so they might be able to relate more, little ones can still learn about Victorian England and the kinds of lives people lived then.

Rather than wandering around the alleyways and courtyards freely but not really knowing what was being portrayed, professional actors accompany you around the venue to make your experience interesting, educational and of course, entertaining.

Dickens World is situated in Chatham Maritime which is also home to a cinema and various restaurants so you can really make a fun-filled day out of your trip.
