Comedian Jim Davidson will be raising smiles at a gala dinner to mark the short life of a brave little girl.
Charlotte Thredgle, of Hartley, near Longfield, died from a rare childhood cancer, neuroblastoma in 1998, aged just six.
Her mum Christine Cunningham, who now lives in Rochester, is asking guests at a gala dinner on Saturday, May 10, to come dressed for a glittering evening out, as her daughter would have recently marked her 21st birthday.
The event will raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Christine said: "Neuroblastoma is one of the most aggressive child cancers in existence. Fortunately it is rare, with less than 100 cases being diagnosed in Britain each year. Research is still vital if survival statistics are to improve.
"After losing Charlotte the only thing I felt I could do to help others, was to fund raise to enable some of that vital research to be carried out."
There will be a guest appearance by Jim Davidson, who has been a friend of the family for many years.
Tickets to the gala dinner, on Saturday, May 10, are £50. The venue is The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic, SE7 8BC. Tickets are available from Christine on 07850 065789 or by email, christinecunningham21@hotmail.co.uk
