Jason Donovan launches Even More Good Reasons Tour at Orchard Theatre, Dartford
06:00, 29 September 2021
Singer, actor and presenter Jason Donovan will launch his rescheduled tour, which had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic, in Kent this week.
The star of 80s Australian soap Neighbours had planned to head out on tour last year, marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Ten Good Reasons, which was the biggest selling album of the year in 1989, selling 1.5 million copies.
But now, after postponing the Even More Good Reasons tour for a year, he will launch the first of 37 dates across the UK and Ireland on Saturday, October 2 at the Orchard Theatre, Dartford.
He said: “I’m ecstatic the tour is finally underway. We’ve had to reschedule the dates a number of times, so to be actually making plans at last is really exciting. I literally can’t wait to get on the road again.
"I’d like to think that live shows are a bit of therapy out of the last 18 months. And it’s always great to revisit times when life was much simpler."
Jason first shot to fame playing Scott in Neighbours opposite Kylie Minogue as Charlene - their fictional wedding was watched by more than 20 million viewers in the UK alone.
His singing career came with producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman, which included a duet with Kylie, Especially For You, which topped the charts in 1989.
More recently he has appeared in stage productions including Priscilla Queen of the Dessert.
Even More Good Reasons is set to be an emotional night for fans. He said: "I can’t wait to get out there again amongst my fans and deliver a new energetic show that is both personal, creative and reflective ... something that is both nostalgic and just a bloody good night out. I’m also going to add songs from some of the musicals I’ve been part of in more recent years."
There are a handful of tickets left for the show. To book go to orchardtheatre.co.uk
