The Big Draw, events taking place in Maidstone, Canterbury, Sevenoaks and Margate
15:30, 13 October 2015
You don’t need to be good at drawing to enjoy doing it. Celebrating drawing in all its forms and for all ages, the annual Big Draw – now in its 15th year – comes to venues across Kent this month, with the theme Every Drawing Tells A Story. Here’s a round-up of what’s on offer.
CANTERBURY TALES
One of Canterbury’s oldest characters is the inspiration for the Canterbury Tales’ Big Draw.
Visitors to the attraction in St Margaret’s Street until Tuesday, October 27 are being asked to draw a Chaucer-inspired masterpiece and could win a prize. It could be medieval themed, or a manuscript, or a character or story from his Canterbury Tales.
Children can also enter through their school and the best drawing wins a costumed character visit to read one to your class. To take part send your entry to the Big Draw, Canterbury Tales, 31 St Margaret’s Street, Canterbury, CT1 2TG with your name, age, address, email and phone number and whether you are entering through a school or as an individual.
ST ANSELM’S SCHOOL, CANTERBURY
Joined Up Tales at St Anselm’s School in Old Dover Road will see drawings by well known and local artists alongside visitors’ ones in the exhibition space between 9am and 3pm on Tuesday, October 27. All the drawings submitted will be linked together. Paper and materials are provided. It is free and for all ages although under-12s must be accompanied by an adult.
MAIDSTONE MUSEUM
Draw inspiration from Maidstone’s own coat of arms, which features Iggy the Dinosaur, and create your own family story on a coat of arms. Maidstone Museum in St Faith’s Street is holding the free drawing event on Saturday, October 17 between 10.30am and 3.30pm. For details go to www.museum.maidstone.gov.uk
LOVELYS, MARGATE
