A tour direct from Shakespeare's Globe, a MOBO award winner and a Britain's Got Talent finalist are among the line-up for this summer's Hever Festival.
Staged between Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, August 30, it will feature an increased number of performances including from The Globe on Tour, direct from Shakespeare’s Globe with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It and The Tempest.
MOBO Award winner, Mercury Prize and Jazz FM Award nominee and British Jazz Award winner, jazz pianist and composer Zoe Rahman will play with her quartet in May, while magician Ben Hart, the Britain’s Got Talent finalist will bring his sell-out show Wonder to the theatre.
New events this year include local theatre producers Night Owl Productions presenting their trademark ‘show-umentary’ format with Black To Black – The Music of Amy Winehouse and for the first time there will be an event at the 900-year-old Hever Church when Dr Lauren MacKay will talk about Ann Boleyn’s father, Sir Thomas Boleyn, who is buried in the church.
Held at the festival theatre in the grounds of Hever Castle, this year's event is also as environmentally friendly as possible, with its audience encouraged to car share and take litter home; no printed tickets and using low energy LED lights.
On Thursday, May 28, Bright Buoy will also be performing their environmentally aware family-comedy Blue Planet III.
