Christmas at National Trust sites in Kent including a Peter Rabbit trail

Peter Rabbit is the star of some of the festive activities in the run-up to Christmas being put on by the National Trust.

The trust's properties are shut, but its sites are still welcoming visitors, with a festive feel.

Here's what's happening around the county:

Chartwell, Sevenoaks

Beautifully decorated trees stand either side of the main entrance to the house with more at the shop and restaurant. Outside, little ones can take part in the Peter Rabbit™ winter adventure activity trail around the garden and wider grounds, which runs throughout Christmas and New Year, until stocks last. £2 per trail, with normal admission.

Emmetts Garden, Ide Hill

There's an Edwardian circus activity trail taking visitors around the gardens. Grab a trail leaflet and find things to spot and activities to try.There are also a few Christmassy touches to some of the trees and the Rose Garden trellis.

There is a suggested donation £1, along with normal admission.

Scotney Castle, Lamberhurst

Peek through the windows of the house to imagine the festive season as it once was in Victorian times. You’ll spot beautifully decorated trees twinkling with lights and festooned with ornaments while outside, the Peter Rabbit™ winter adventure activity trail is a great way for the kids to burn off some steam and find out about wildlife.

It runs throughout Christmas and New Year, until stocks last and costs £2 per trail with normal admission.

Ightham Mote, Borough Green

This year the courtyard and gardens will have a festive twist for Christmas with the sounds of a virtual acapella choir in the decorated courtyard. Nine hand-crafted reindeer are dotted around the garden, created with materials from the estate. Outside, little ones can take part in the Peter Rabbit™ winter adventure activity trail.

The courtyard will be decorated until Sunday, January 3 while the trail runs throughout Christmas and New Year, while stocks last, costing £2 per trail with normal admission.
