Auditions are in full swing, but who will stick it to the man? School of Rock the musical is coming to Kent.

As the county's theatres prepare to reopen, the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury has announced it will welcome the UK tour of the musical, made famous by the movie starring Jack Black, next year.

The show, which has 14 new songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be at the Canterbury theatre from Tuesday, April 19 to Saturday, April 30, 2022.

Full casting will follow later this summer, but in the meantime go wild for our super-talented young auditionees as they rock out with some killer shred guitar and perfect their stage moves in a new video recorded at the London Palladium.

Watch them here:

Based on the hit movie, the new musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band – performed live by the production’s young actors every night.

While teaching his pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress - and helps her rediscover the wild child within.

The production opened on Broadway in 2015 before transferring to the West End and going on to win the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.

Directed by Laurence Connor (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) with choreography by JoAnn M.Hunter, music supervision is by John Rigby with Matt Smith as musical director.

Casting is still to be announced.
