Beautiful duo Wyles and Simpson will be showcasing a selection of new tracks at one of the county’s most discerning live venues tonight (Friday).
Abigail Wyles and Holly Simpson have achieved success by combining broad musical backgrounds, creating powerful and distinctive electronic music.
Abigail’s haunting voice is complemented by Holly’s synth-laden melodies and symphonic string arrangements. Their songs are described as having an honest beauty with meticulous yet understated production.
They'll be supported tonight by Canterbury-based singer-songwriter Emily Watts. Emily plays piano and sings her own haunting, self-penned songs. Following her artist residency at The Little Blue Hut in Tankerton, she hosted her own concert at the Horsebridge Centre for Whitstable Oyster Festival.
Emily's most recent collaboration has been composing music to a poem by Olympic poet Lemn Sissay, in which she joined with a team of backing singers to perform the piece at the Gulbenkian during Wise Words Festival 2014. Tickets for tonight's show cost £7.50.
Later in the week on Thursday, March 12, London trio Flowers will also be at Ramsgate Music Hall.
The band’s debut album was produced by Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, and it captures the intensity of being young in a series of deceptively simple pop songs. which convey emotion with minimal instrumentation. Tickets for Flowers cost £7.
