There will be more than 300 varieties of cherry to pick from at Brogdale this weekend.

The cherry fair on Sunday, July 17, celebrates the hundreds of varieties in Brogdale’s National Fruit Collection and 325 of them will be on show.

The collection at the Faversham site holds just two trees of each of these rare cherries.

As well as food and craft stalls, there will be games, falconry displays, archery, talks, demonstrations and lots of children’s activities.

Spitacular also returns, but if you’re thinking of taking part you may want to get practising at home as the Brogdale record stands at a mammoth 53ft for a cherry pip spit.

Brogdale’s Kimberly Campion said: “Whilst we offer an expert level of information and advice for horticulturalists, it’s great that children get involved, too, learning about and tasting the different varieties of cherries and having fun with the competitions.”

There will be live music through the day and peckish visitors of all ages can also try their luck in the cherry pie eating competition.

There is parking and a picnic area on site.
