Chatham: Life with Jimi Hendrix by his brother Leon at the Central Theatre
00:14, 30 May 2018
He was arguably the greatest rock guitarist of all time.
So to be the younger brother of Jimi Hendrix could be a tough role to play - but one Leon Hendrix is proud to have played.
In a must-see show for any Hendrix fan, Leon will talk about his recollections of his life with his remarkable older brother.
In the show at the Central Theatre, Chatham, which Jimi himself played on December 1, 1967, he will also talk about his life and answer questions from the audience.
He was placed in an orphanage after his mother died and father was unable to cope, and went on to form a band with Jimi, but when his brother died in 1970, his life spiralled downhill. “I went through a really difficult period, including drug and alcohol addiction and a spell in prison,” he said. “This show is an accolade to the talent and timeless hits attributed to Jimi.”
Leon will also be playing his brother’s hits, including Voodoo Child, Hey Joe and Purple Haze, and talking about his experiences recording and touring with him, and about his private life.
The True Story of Jimi Hendrix, by his brother Leon Hendrix, will be at the Central Theatre in Chatham on Saturday, June 2 at 7.30pm.
There will be a meet ‘n greet after the show as well as the Q&A. Tickets for the show cost £23. To book, visit tickets.medway.gov.uk
