Sixty is the new… something, as comedian Jenny Eclair discovers in her new tour.
The award-winning funny-woman is bringing her latest stand-up show, Sixty, to theatres up and down the country - including one night at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells.
The show, which sees Jenny confront this new decade of her life and ponder whether to celebrate it or console herself, also looks back at her past, from years on the comedy circuit to a varied television career.
Since an early appearance as a German-speaking waitress in British comedy-drama Auf Wiedersehen Pet in the 1980s, Jenny has managed to capture the attention of audiences, whether it’s on stage or on the screen.
In 1995, Jenny became the first woman to win the prestigious Perrier Award, now known as the Edinburgh Comedy Award, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Her stand-up reputation is still just as strong today, with her previous show, How to be a Middle-Aged Woman (Without Going Insane), having sold out in the UK.
In the television world, the comic has appeared in shows such as Grumpy Old Women, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Packet of Three - later renamed Packing Them In - and Loose Women.
In more recent years, she has even branched out as a writer, penning five novels. Her latest book, Older and Wider – A Survivor’s Guide to the Menopause, became a Sunday Times bestseller.
Jenny Eclair is at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, on Friday, October 14. Book online here or call 01892 530613.
