Oh, what a night! It might not have been late December in 63 (as the song goes) but watching the Jersey Boys show again did turn out to be a very special time for me.
I've seen it several times in London and just couldn't wait to take my friend along who is just discovering the delights of the theatre.
For those who've not seen the show it is the story of how Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons rose to fame.
The band which came from New Jersey and formed the 1960s became one of the most successful bands in pop history due to their unique sound and hit songs.
And no wonder Jersey Boys has won numerous awards and critical acclaim from all who see it, (more than 27 million of us so far).
It's packed full of the band's greatest songs including Beggin’, Sherry, Walk Like A Man, and 1963 (Oh What a Night) to Big Girls Don’t Cry, Bye Bye Baby, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Working My Way Back to You and Who Loves You.
You can't help but become emotionally involved with their back story as they rose to fame from the wrong side of the tracks.
It's full of belly-laughing humour, wit and emotion and as you follow the boys on the rollercoaster of what was their lives, they sometimes don't get on as well off stage as they seem to harmonise on it.
The talented actors and singers take you on a very emotional journey through their lives with the band's famous songs woven into their story perfectly.
It's truly amazing and both myself and my new theatre friend were blow away with last night's performance.
If you've not seen the show and you love a musical, then this is one not to be missed.
It is full of everything a musical theatre lover wants, humour, hits, hugely talented actors and singers and a stunning magical set which even sees the guys on stage go right back to the 1960s via a clever little bit of camera work.
I won't spoil the surprise, but lets just say, it's the magic of the theatre.
Jersey Boys is at the Orchard Theatre until Sat January 22 to find out more and book tickets click here.
