Do you care about our coastline?

You can join thousands of people across the country this weekend rolling up their sleeves for the annual Great British Beach Clean.

Organised by the Marine Conservation Society, the clean is also part of a national and global survey, looking at how to turn the tide on litter.

You can also meet other like-minded folk who want to help keep our beaches clean, too.

Marine wildlife is under threat from the waste and litter in our seas, accidentally eating it or becoming entangled in litter, as well as damaging our tourism and fishing industries.

There are cleans throughout the year, but this weekend is the society’s flagship event. There are cleans across the county’s coast, but you need to register your interest before heading down there.

Warden Bay at Leysdown-on-Sea, 10am.

Minster on Sea, also at 10am.

South Swale Beach, Faversham at 1pm

Saturday, September 16

Plumpudding (Minnis Bay) Beach in Birchington, 10am.

St Margaret’s Bay, Dover, at 11am.

Cliffsend, Pegwell Bay, at 2.30pm

Sunday, September 17

Deal Beach, 9.30am.

Shakespeare Beach, Dover at 10am.

Dungeness Nature Reserve, Lydd, at 10am.

Upnor, near Rochester, at 10.30am.

Epple Bay, Birchington, at 3pm.
