KMTV, Kent's new TV channel on Freeview 7 and Virgin 159

06:00, 08 July 2017

KMTV is a unique partnership between the University of Kent and KM Media Group, the publisher of this website.

Launching later today, at 5.30pm, it will be the county’s first dedicated television channel, delivering quality news, sport and entertainment around the clock.

The centrepiece of the schedule will be Kent Tonight, an hour-long news programme broadcasting from our state-of-the-art studio at the university’s Medway campus every week day at 5.30pm.

Unlike other regional news shows, Kent Tonight will focus ONLY on what matters to the county – it will be made in Kent for Kent.

You will also be able to watch sister radio station kmfm’s hugely popular Breakfast with Garry and Laura every weekday from 6am as our cameras go behind the scenes in the studio.

Some of KM Media Group’s most well-known journalists will be fronting KMTV programmes.

Business editor Chris Price will host Chris & Co while political editor Paul Francis will be bringing you the best analysis of what is happening both here and in Westminster.

Professor Tim Luckhurst, head of the university’s Centre for Journalism, said: “Kent sport, Kent business and Kent politics have never had such intensive and dedicated coverage.

“The KMTV team, a unique partnership between the University of Kent and KM Media Group, is interested in the stories that matter to you in a way that none of our rivals can be because KMTV covers Kent and nowhere else.”

KM Media Group editorial director Ian Carter said: “We’re delighted to be launching KMTV. The partnership between the university and the KM will mean we can cover the county in a way nobody else can match.”
