Leeds Castle Concert announce swing orchestra Down for the Count to perform near Maidstone this July
18:00, 09 March 2022
Leeds Castle Concert, which hosts an evening of live entertainment with classical musicians and orchestras, has announced the first artist to perform this summer.
The huge outdoor concert is one of the county’s biggest summertime events and takes place in the castle grounds, near Maidstone, on Saturday, July 9.
Swing orchestra Down for the Count will be opening the concert, following their packed-out performance at last year’s event. Audiences can expect spectacular swing classics such as Sing, Sing, Sing and I’ve Got You Under My Skin to kick off the evening.
“We're absolutely thrilled to be returning to Leeds Castle for the 2022 concert,” says Down for the Count band manager Mike Paul-Smith. “We absolutely loved performing for you in 2021 and simply cannot wait to spend a sunny summer's day performing our swing, jazz and big band favourites for you once again!”
The diverse concert programme also includes a stunning Spitfire display and magnificent firework finale, set against the backdrop of Leeds Castle.
This year, the concert is hosting a Royal Garden Party theme. In the spirit of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, guests are invited to dress for the occasion in their most regal finery, with a prize up for grabs for the best dressed audience member.
The July event is sponsored by Brachers, an award-winning Kent law firm which has been established in the county for more than 125 years.
