It’s game on as retro consoles, cosplayers and competitive gamers come to town.

The Medway Gaming Festival returns for a two-day extravaganza at the Historic Dockyard Chatham.

The weekender will invite anyone with an interest in gaming to level up their skills on a range of consoles, from thrilling high-tech inventions to vintage video games from your childhood.

Challenge your friends on popular titles such as Fortnite, Mincraft and FIFA, try your hand at futuristic PC games and test yourself in the gaming tournament.

It’s not all online; there will also be a range of tabletop games such as Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons from the Milton Hundred Club.

You can also snap a selfie with authentic and replica film props and pick up rare collectibles and memorabilia from the merchandise stalls.

This year, the festival is bigger than ever and has introduced a programme of brand new entertainment and activities.

The RetroLand exhibition will showcase 50 years of gaming history with zones for each decade, while the DevLand area will offer workshops and panel discussions to showcase the newest games on the market.

There will also be a Star Wars Village with cosplay groups recreating characters and scenes, a VR open arena, racing simulators and a chance to play with Gel Blaster guns.

If you or your kids have ever wanted to share your gaming prowess online, the Creator Stage will see a number of guest speakers discuss all aspects of content creation, from Twitch to YouTube.

You can also learn what it takes to kickstart a career in gaming from experts who have worked in music production, programming and design.

There will also be several fascinating exhibitions to explore, from a creative arts showcase of popular culture and comic book artwork to the indie showcase, which will represent local and regional talent in indie games development.

If that’s not enough, there will be live entertainment each day from wrestlers, cosplayers, robot battlers and competitive gamers.
