If you’re in the mood for romancing, there’s no better excuse than Valentine’s Day.
The most romantic day of the year is fast approaching, but don’t worry if you haven’t got anything planned just yet - we’ve got five great ideas to show that special someone how much you care.
Leeds Castle, near Maidstone
If you really want to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember, you can book a mini-break at one of Kent’s most stunning historical attractions. Leeds Castle, near Maidstone, is putting on a delicious culinary experience, with a six-course meal and guided wine tasting, as part of its romantic getaway package. It’s a few days after Valentine’s Day itself, but it’s worth the wait if you decide to end the evening with a night in one of the castle’s luxurious guest rooms.

The Lighthouse, Deal
Deal’s arts and music pub, The Lighthouse, is known for its live entertainment, but this month there will be something different going on at the cosy venue. The pub’s chef, Mike Clayson, will be cooking up a one-off menu including canapes, oysters, steak and a chocolate tart to finish.

Papà Bianco, Faversham
The popular pizza place at Faversham’s Standard Quay is known for more than just serving up tasty slices. The waterfront restaurant often puts on gigs, film screenings, drag bingo and quiz nights and, for Valentine’s Day, In a Chord will be performing. The smooth jazz band will be playing a set of romantic tunes as you enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza.

Squerryes, Westerham
Enjoy views of the stunning winery while you tuck into a six-course tasting menu. It starts with a glass of Squerryes rosé on arrival, followed by an evening of delicious food and optional wine pairings from the estate. If you can’t make a midweek meal, the romance continues into the weekend as the vineyard is also putting on its special six-course menu on the Friday and Saturday.

Wildwood, near Herne Bay
For something a little different, why not take your other half for a moonlit night tour of Wildwood. The wildlife park, between Canterbury and Herne Bay, is offering a guided after-dark tour where you can see some of the park’s nocturnal animals and join in with couples games for a chance to win a prize. Before you head out on your tour, you will be treated to a two-course meal and a glass of wine.
