Mica Paris headlines the Rye Jazz and Blues Festival this August bank holiday weekend

Top class blues, jazz, funk, Cuban and jive come together for a vibrant bank holiday festival.
The Rye Jazz and Blues Festival will bring the streets alive until Bank Holiday Monday.
The weekend starts with Sky Arts Guitar Stars, blues guitarist and finalist Steve Morrison and jazz fusion guitarist and winner of the 2016 Guitar Star Zayn Mohammed playing on the outdoor stage at 7pm.
Edgy eight-piece Brass Funkeys marching band and Glastonbury favourites open Saturday’s proceedings from noon at the Kino Cinema stage and then throughout the streets bringing the New Orleans vibe to Rye.
Headliners will be queen of soul Mica Paris and jazz singers Liane Carroll and Joe Stilgoe.
On Sunday London-based Cuban band Kandela Mi Son performing on the outdoor stage, guaranteed to get the crowds dancing. Free music performances in the heart of the town include New Orleans jazz maestro’s Dom Pipkin and his band the Ikos at 1pm on Sunday.
There will also be street food such as Cajun jambalaya and a barbecue, as well as face painting. Visit ryejazz.com.
