Organisers of one of the summer's largest annual events which had to be cancelled are set to serve up a completely new, tasty event.
The Kent County Agricultural Society, which organises the Kent County Show in July each year, is launching Food on the Field for visitors to sample the best of Kent’s restaurants and eateries.
It will be held at the Kent Showground, home of the Kent County Show, in Detling, near Maidstone, and will showcase the county’s top food and drink establishments.
Visitors will have a chance to try signature dishes and drinks whilst enjoying the Kent countryside. Two-time winners of the Taste of Kent Awards, the Butchers Block, and silver winners of the Independent English Wine Awards, Meopham Valley Vineyards, have already confirmed.
Show manager Lucy Hegarty said: “It’s been a hard year for the hospitality industry, we would normally be wrapping up the Kent County Show at this time of the year, so we wanted to do something to really celebrate the best of the industry in Kent.
"Food on the Field is the perfect opportunity for visitors to get outside, enjoy delicious food, and support local businesses.”
Each restaurant will have a selection of their signature dishes in taster size for visitors to try a variety of different tastes and flavours. Alongside the Kent restaurants and bars, Food on the Field will also feature a farmer’s market for visitors to buy and take home local produce.
Food on the Field is on Saturday, September 5 and will have two sessions. To find out more, click here.
