Ooh Betty! What a barrel of laughs this show really is...

I was lucky enough go to and see Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em last night at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford and my theatre buddy and I belly-laughed throughout the excellent performance.

Of course, anything Joe Pasquale does is bound to be funny, but honestly, it was truly a magical sight watching him perform as the loveable but accident-prone Frank Spencer.

The production has the backing of Raymond Allen, the writer of the original TV series starring Michael Crawford. Joe was chosen specially for this iconic role.

And no wonder the auditorium was packed as the show certainly gives the audience a wonderfully smashing time.

Alongside Sarah Earnshaw, who plays long-suffering wife Betty, the hilarious mishaps are plentiful and with the help of Susie Blake (Beverley Unwin in Coronation Street), who plays his disapproving mother-in-law, Mrs Fisher, the comedy doesn't stop.

Susie is an absolute star of the show and my cheeks ached with laugher watching her antics as she gets drunk on some home-made prune wine.

I'm not going to give away too many spoilers away about the show, but Betty has exciting news for Frank.

However, he’s preoccupied by possible new-found fame as a magician and the calamines, misunderstandings and crossed wires make priceless comedy.

Joe is also a self-confessed dare devil and is happy to do his own stunts for the show, which I can say he did in absolute Frank Spencer style, especially on the stairs.

But his dodgy DIY skills literally did bring the house down (number 13, of course) thanks to the brilliantly designed set.

The comic timing of each and every character is utterly perfect and there are a few big and rather loud surprises along the way.

Also joining the cast are also Moray Treadwell as Mr Luscombe/Mr Worthington, James Paterson as as Father O’Hara and Ben Watson as Desmond/Constable who also bring a huge amount of laughs and excellence to the performance.
