Standing on the highest hill in the Medway Towns, you have unbroken views from Chatham Docks to Rochester Castle, from the Sheppey Crossing to Blue Bell Hill.

Although Broomhill Park is well-loved and well-used by the residents living nearby in Strood, it is all but unknown to those living further afield.

As well as unbroken panoramic views, the park also offers children's play areas, a human sundial, picnic areas and an outdoor fitness trail.

The Friends of Broomhill have been working tirelessly since 2007 to transform the park into a safe, healthy place for the community.

They hold monthly task days to maintain and improve the park, and also annual fun days for all the family.

Last year the park was given a £150,000 upgrade which created a new play area, sports wall and allowed them to resurface the paths and the car park on King Arthur's Drive.

As part of the upgrade a unique timepiece was installed at the park. It is believed to be the only human sundial open to the public in England and is specifically designed for Broomhill Park.

Broomhill Park has been awarded a Green Flag for the past four years and been found outstanding by the Royal Horticultural Society.

The park can be reached by driving through Wainscott along the B2108, and turning along Cliffe Road. There is a car park on King Arthur's Drive, ME2 3NA, and pedestrian entrances from Clarendon Drive, ME2 3LT, and Farm Hill Avenue, ME2 3RS.
