The animal kingdom may be wild, but it’s also bewitching when captured at that perfect moment and frozen in time.

More than 100 atmospheric and captivating images, all winners in the British Wildlife Photography Awards, are now on display at the Beaney in Canterbury - but time is running out to see the exhibition.

Established in 2009, the awards produce a catalogue of exciting, imaginative and artistic images and have 12 categories, including urban wildlife, marine life and animal behaviour, and three categories for juniors.

It’s the first time they’ve gone on display outside London and the Kent venue is the first stop on a national tour.

TV presenter and naturalist Chris Packham said: “Anyone passionate about protecting and preserving wildlife will be inspired.”

Such is the interest in the event, its opening weekend, which included a live performance of Peter and the Wolf by Grenville Hancox and workshops, proved to be one of the busiest weekends of the year at the Beaney.

The British Wildlife Photography Awards exhibition is on display at the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge in High Street, Canterbury, until Sunday, November 15.

There is no entry fee, although donations go towards putting on future special exhibitions.
