The team behind Pub in the Park are set to stage a new drive-in theatre and food festival in April.
The Alfresco Theatre Drive-in Tour promises a mix of big-screen movies, comedy gigs, live theatre and music acts, served alongside dishes from award-winning chefs.
Designed as an event for the times, the travelling theatre will kick off as a Covid-compliant drive-in experience when it comes to the Hop Farm Family Park at Beltring near Paddock Wood from Wednesday, April 28 to Monday, May 3.
At the Alfresco Theatre, foodie fanatics will be able to tuck into an exclusive menu lovingly crafted by some of the country’s top chefs, while sipping a selection of craft cocktails, beers or wine from the roaming bar. There will also be alcohol-free drinks for designated drivers.
Friday night will feature Mark Watson’s Carpool Comedy Club - first seen at Hever Castle last summer - with a line-up including the likes of Nish Kumar, Dara Ó Briain, Ed Byrne, Angela Barnes Nina Conti, Marcus Brigstocke and Rachel Parris.
Mark said: "Last year we were overwhelmed both by the demand and by the response from audiences. This time round, there'll be more from me and I've taken my pick of some of last year's favourites and added some new big-hitters to the mix."
Saturday will see the return of live music with Spice Girls tribute act SPICE open for Bjorn Again: The ABBA Show.
The Drive & Dine Cinema features feelgood flicks from Dirty Dancing and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to Bohemian Rhapsody and Jurassic Park.
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s incredibly popular The Gruffalo will be making a special appearance in the musical adaptation live on stage.
Tickets cost £18 for movies for adults; £35 for comedy and music gigs and £16 for Gruffalo tickets for ages three and up (plus a booking fee), and go on sale on Thursday, March 4. To book go to thealfrescotheatre.co.uk
