It was billed as a tale of a man's quest to retrieve his £250 from You've Been Framed footage.
What this had to do with the moon, was unknown.
In the studio in the Marlowe Theatre, while hundreds shouted 'he's behind you' next door, the audience "....If We've Never Been To The Moon" enjoyed a mince pie and an equally bonkers show.
The cast was made up of just two actors who were full of energy, enthusiasm and a talent for executing a punchline.
While the story started with the You've Been Framed 'quest' it became the story of a man's downfall and difficulties in life.
It was fast paced and interactive, pouncing on audience members to play some parts - and rewarding them with a chocolate.
As the audience laughed and sung along with Last Christmas, it took a dark twist towards the end.
It built a suspense - with an unpredictable ending - and a heartbreaking one when it did arrive.
Although it started with an odd, captivating hook, the final message of mental health was poignant and an important one in the wider narrative of the issue.
The style of the performance was also refreshing. The interaction with the audience felt like a modern twist on the theatre and one that will be more popular with young theatregoers.
It was an important reminder to support smaller, local theatre productions.
