Set your alarms and get ready to welcome a brand new voice to kmfm’s Breakfast Show.
Joining regular host Garry Wilson is Chelsea Little, a former musical theatre student who hopes to bring some razzle dazzle to your mornings.
“I’m still in disbelief that I get to call this my job because it doesn’t feel like work at all,” says Chelsea. “I’m naturally a cup half full kind of gal, so I’ve got a bubbly, positive, upbeat energy no matter what. I bring the get-up-and-go.”
When Chelsea is telling me this, she is sitting in a kmfm studio chair, leant back with a huge smile on her face, looking at home already - and she isn’t even on air yet.
“The breakfast show is an absolute dream,” Chelsea says excitedly. “Breakfast is so busy - it’s chaotic, but in the most exciting way. And the kmfm team feels really special. From the moment I came in, you could tell everybody loves what they do and it’s such an exciting atmosphere.”
It sounds like Chelsea has found her place in the team right away - and her partner in crime, Breakfast Show co-host Garry, agrees.
“As soon as she came in it was like, yeah, she’s a bit crazy and she’s definitely one of us,” laughs Garry. “She’s got loads of energy, she’s got a million stories and lots of showbiz stuff to share.”
Garry, who has been part of kmfm’s morning show for more than eight years, is looking forward to what Chelsea will bring to the breakfast table, even if it means stepping out of his comfort zone.
“I think she desperately wants to make me a bit more showbiz,” he admits. “I have a feeling that there will be more singing, dancing, and goodness knows what else happening now that she’s on board. I think I’m probably going to have to learn a TikTok dance before too long!
“But it’s going to be a lot of fun going forward. It’ll definitely be a show that’ll wake you up for the day ahead - you can’t ignore it, you can’t ignore her, and you won’t want to!”
The Breakfast Show continues to evolve with new features including the 6am Games, Morning Motivation Mix, Takeaway Tuesday and Say It.
Chelsea, who is moving from London to her new home in Kent, will soon be in charge of waking up the county - but what songs get her out of bed in the morning?
“I love Lizzo, she’s my queen of anthems,” says Chelsea. “Also, Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 and - just because I’m entering my villain era - Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo.
“I grew up listening to Dolly Parton, Elvis, Wham and George Michael. I'm a huge lover of Harry Styles, I also love Halsey and I’m a fan of Olivia Rodrigo - she’s bringing back my Avril Lavigne and Paramore era and the little emo kid in me is happy.”
With her eclectic music taste, bubbly personality and plenty of jazz hands, it feels like mornings are about to get a lot more sparkly on kmfm.
“You get to listen to great music, talk to incredible people all across Kent, make a difference, and have the best time,” says the budding presenter. “If you’re going to pick a job, that’s the dream, isn’t it?”
kmfm is one of the only local radio stations dedicated to broadcasting to their region with shows made in the area, with 163,400 listeners tuning in each week.
Tune into the Breakfast Show with Garry and Chelsea from Monday, September 26 on kmfm. You can listen on FM and DAB, smart speaker, the app and online.
