If you were sneaking into punk gigs or hitting up the local indie club night back in the noughties, odds are you’ll be familiar with The Subways.

The band, who crashed onto the scene in 2005 and found themselves supporting megastars like the Foo Fighters and AC/DC, are now set to play an intimate show at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells.

The trio, from Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, were aged just 16 when their first record, Young For Eternity, hit the shelves.

The album spawned a string of singles, many of which were featured on-screen.

The third single from their debut record, Rock & Roll Queen, was used by Guy Ritchie in his 2008 gangster comedy RocknRolla, in which the band can be seen performing the song inside a nightclub.

The track, along with other singles Oh Yeah and I Want to Hear What You Have Got to Say, was also featured in an episode of American teen drama The OC.

After being forced to take a break in 2007 while lead singer Billy Lunn recovered from vocal cord surgery, the band returned with a further three albums over the course of the decade - All or Nothing (2008), Money and Celebrity (2011) and The Subways (2015).

Since drummer and founding member Josh Morgan announced his departure from the band in 2020, the group have been working on their fourth album.

Uncertain Joys was released via Alcopop Records in January 2023 and prompted the three-piece, who are now joined by Camille Phillips on the drums, to return to the road with a setlist of nostalgic hits and new material.

The Subways will be at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday, April 13. You can book tickets online here.

Sittingbourne-based band Indoor Pets will be supporting The Subways on the night.
