05:00, 08 March 2023
Celebrate the Festival of Colour with street food, Bollywood dance and live music.
Holi Festival, also known as the Festival of Colour or Festival of Spring, is an ancient Hindu tradition that marks the end of winter and welcomes spring, love and new life.
This year, Holi takes place on Wednesday, March 8 and there are lots of ways for you to see in the new season.
If you and your family are always the first ones on the dancefloor, you can get involved with the live music and dance activities at Victoria Park in Ashford.
On Saturday, March 11 there will be Puja and Bhajan music from 11am, followed by Bollywood dance and music in the afternoon.
The event, which costs £6 to enter, will be open until 3pm and will also offer a range of Indian snacks, with vegetarian options, to purchase, as well as a Holi colour pack included with your ticket.
DJ Ritu will also be playing her own mix of much-loved Bollywood tracks throughout the event.
You can book tickets online here.
On Sunday, March 12, there will be a Nepalese Holi celebration taking place at Cheriton Community Centre in Folkestone.
From 1pm to 4pm, visitors can enjoy traditional Nepalese dance, a live band, arts and crafts, sweets and hot food.
Tickets cost £6 and can be purchased online here.
Your ticket includes a Holi colour pack, which will be used outside or in a marquee depending on the weather, so make sure you bring clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.
For a family day out that won’t break the bank, you can stop off at the free Holi Festival afternoon event taking place at Collis Green Park in Maidstone on Sunday, March 12.
There will be children’s activities, colourful decorations, music, food and a raffle to raise funds for the Collis Green Trust.
The event takes place from 12.30pm and there’s no need to book - simply turn up and join in with the celebrations.
