Laurel & Hardy fans might think they are seeing double this weekend ahead of the opening of a new film about the pair in Kent.

Lookalikes for the comedy duo - named Thick and Thin - will be at Bluewater's Showcase Cinema de Lux, this Saturday, January 5 and Sunday, January 6, to mark the release of the new movie, Stan & Ollie next week.

Cinema managers are laying on screenings of Laurel & Hardy classic movies Towed in the Hole and Way Out West, dating from 1932 and 1937 respectively, to whet fans' appetite.

The reshowing of the vintage films comes ahead of the release of Stan & Ollie starring John C. Riley and Steve Coogan , on Friday, January 11.

The biographical comedy drama film tells the tale of the duo attempting to reconnect with their fans by touring variety halls in Britain during 1953.

The comedy duo visited Kent to see the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway reopened in 1947, returning to Margate in the county later in the year.

On bringing the Hollywood classics back to the big screen, Mark Barlow, of Showcase Cinemas, said: "Laurel and Hardy are titans of the silver screen and we’re thrilled to be able to show these 1930s classics at Showcase Cinemas.

"It’s also a great opportunity to introduce these iconic actors to a whole new audience in 2019."
