Soft Cell is the second headliner to be announced for this summer’s Rochester Castle Concerts series.
The band, best known for 1981 hit Tainted Love, will join Nile Rodgers and Chic as part of the castle’s outdoor summer concerts this year.
Soft Cell will perform at Rochester Castle on Friday, July 7. Tickets are on sale now and can be booked here.
The synthpop duo, made up of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball, first formed in the late 1970s.
Their hit single, Tainted Love, saw the band shoot to stardom in the ‘80s, with fan favourites Bedsitter, Say Hello Wave Goodbye, Torch and What all reaching the UK Top Ten.
Their debut album, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, also went on to become a certified platinum record.
Soft Cell will be joined for their Rochester concert by Peter Hook and The Light.
Peter Hook, original bassist of Joy Division and, after the death of frontman Ian Curtis, founding member of New Order, will be performing a selection of hits from his back catalogue.
He will be playing alongside his live band, The Light, and will celebrate more than 40 years in the business with hits such as Love Will Tear Us Apart and Blue Monday.
The Rochester Castle Concerts is a series of outdoor live music performances, which last year featured artists such as the Human League, The Specials and James Blunt.
