Free day out at the Historic Dockyard Chatham

05:21, 04 June 2019

Fancy a day out at one of Kent's top, award-winning attractions for free?

The Historic Dockyard Chatham is set to stage a free day out after its first last year, held in conjunction with the Medway Council River Festival, proved so popular.

The day on Saturday, June 15, gives visitors the chance to learn about the age of sail and maritime history, including seeing the yard's three historic warships and visit the Victorian Ropery where rope has been made for 400 years.

Exhibitions include the Command of the Oceans galleries while visitors can see steam trains or tour an air raid shelter.

Family activities will be staged in the No.1 Smithery Courtyard, including an interactive education zone and the chance for children to create a rocket to fire.

There will also be a chance to upgrade to an annual ticket - valid for a year, which gives access to all areas of the site and programme of activities.
