The number 69 bus returns for another stint of fun in the sun as it once again graces the coastlines of Broadstairs and Ramsgate!
Stagecoach’s popular spring-summer service will make its return on Good Friday, running during bank holidays, weekends and school holidays until 25 September.
The service has created new memories for the younger generation, allowing them to step into a Thanet reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. Whilst giving the older generation the chance to look back fondly of their times spent on the cream and maroon bus.
The retro double decker is especially personal to Isabel, a Broadstairs resident of over 50 years.
"I still get excited to see the Open Top Bus. Reminding me of growing up on the coast. You see so much and feel like you are on holiday. The sea air, wind in your hair and making memories".
The 69 bus travels from Broadstairs’ Stone Bay to and Ramsgate’s Boating Pool, boasting a number of tourist hotspots along the way.
For fans of English Literature, hop off at The Dickens Museum in Broadstairs to visit the literary legend’s cottage that inspired parts of David Copperfield.
For a dive into Ramsgate’s history, visit the Ramsgate Tunnels for a tour in the tunnels that sheltered 60,000 people during WWII air raids.
Get off at the Ramsgate Harbour to take in the idyllic views of the boats and make your choice from a row of tempting restaurants.
Customers can take a single trip for £2.50, or hop on and off all day for just £4.50 when using the Stagecoach app, with up to four children travelling for just £1 with any adult ticket.
Running at full capacity since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Stagecoach looks forward to welcoming locals and tourists back to its popular service.
Thanet operations manager for Stagecoach, Chris Webber shared his excitement for the service’s return.
“We’re really excited to start running the open-top again. This service helps boost the local economy and offers something for people of all ages to enjoy.”
