Marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, Kent County Council’s Film Office is launching a trail which will take you on a Tudor trail through the sites across the county which have been used as film locations.
Twenty eight sites will be included when the Tudor (ish) Trail is launched on Friday, May 6.
The trail will be available online as an interactive map and a PDF download with a limited number of booklets available at the places featured, tourist information centres and libraries.
The launch is timed to coincide with the new series, The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses, starring Benedict Cumberbatch which airs on Saturday, May 7.
Eleven Tudor films and TV series are featured in the trail, including 1969 feature film Anne of the Thousand Days, starring Richard Burton, filmed at Hever Castle, Penshurst Place and prestigious BBC drama Wolf Hall which chose Dover Castle and Penshurst Place as locations.
The trail was created by the Kent County Council Film Office, which also helped many of the recent productions choosing the county, in collaboration with Explore Kent, Produced in Kent, Visit Kent and the attractions featured.
Visit Kent’s Sinead Hanna said: “There are so many wonderful heritage sites in Kent linked to the Tudor dynasty, each with their own unique story to tell and offering excellent days out to visitors of all ages.
“Many people do not realise just how many of these beautiful sites have been immortalised on the big and small screen and this new guide will help people visit the locations that have dazzled them on screen.”
Check out the trail from Friday, May 6 here.
