Have you been reading more while staying at home? As we all move online, book clubs are doing the same. We pick four of the best to join and share with...
1. Sevenoaks Bookshop’s Bookshop Book Club
It is hosting regular scheduled live discussions via its Facebook page with links to Zoom sessions sent to those who join. The next session is on Tuesday, May 20, looking at One Fine Day by Mollie Panter Downes. Written in1946, it is a single day in the life of a woman living in an English village, and a vivid portrait of the aftermath of war. The book explores themes of reconciliation and is a timely read following the VE Day celebrations.

2. The Guardian’s reading group
On the first Tuesday of the month, the group puts a theme or author to a public vote and chooses what to read. Prolific reader and publisher Sam Jordison then hosts an online discussion every Tuesday where he explains the book’s history, researches any questions you ask and even sets up live chats with the author – while you get on with the serious business of talking.

3. Reese’s Book Club
Reese Witherspoon has a love of reading and her Instagram book club, @reesesbookclub, discusses one book a month “with a woman at the centre of the story” and is followed by 1.5m people.
4. Our Shared Shelf
Harry Potter star Emma Watson founded this book club, focused on feminist literature, back in 2016. She has stepped back this year but the community continues to discuss books under the hashtag #oursharedshelf on Twitter, Instagram and Goodreads.
