05:00, 29 July 2024

Pop rock band The Feeling are set to perform at a multi-arts festival this autumn.

This year’s Canterbury Festival has announced that the group, fronted by songwriter Dan Gillespie Sells, will be part of the diverse line-up, including light shows, live comedy and circus acts.

Priority booking for Festival Friends, a loyalty programme that gives members early booking and discounted tickets, opens today (July 29) at 11am.

Tickets go on general sale on Monday, August 12 at 11am and can be booked online here. You can also book by calling 01227 457568 or in person at the Festival Office.

The Feeling, best known for singles Fill My Little World and Love It When You Call, will perform an intimate gig at Canterbury’s Great Hall as part of the festival’s two-week programme.

They will be joined by an eclectic mix of artists including The Shires, a country duo who performed at Black Deer in Tunbridge Wells earlier this year, the BBC Big Band who will be celebrating the music of Gershwin and a set from British DJ Don Letts.

There will also be comedy from Rory Bremner, Keith Farnan and the original stars of Whose Line is it Anyway.

Visitors can also enjoy a series of talks on everything from health to history, while the university will host science lectures covering topics like cybersecurity, AI, the solar system and wildlife.

The festival runs from Saturday, October 19 to Saturday, November 2.

However, in addition to the main event, the team behind the Canterbury Festival will also welcome Luxmuralis back to the city in December as an extension of the festival.

The artistic group specialising in immersive audio-visual installations will return to Canterbury from Friday, December 13 for nine days with their new show, Fantastic Tales and Where to Find Them.

Last year, the stunning light projections were shown inside Canterbury Cathedral but, this winter, the event will take place at St Augustine’s Abbey and The King’s School and will be an outdoor display.

The installation will be themed around the Anglo-Saxon era and will feature colourful lights set to a captivating soundtrack.
