He certainly returned to Kent in style last night as thousands of fans danced the night away enjoying a massive set by the iconic mod musician that is Paul Weller.
As he came on stage at Dreamland in Margate he told the audience it would be a very long set.
Paul Weller entertaining fans
It certainly was, but you know when your having such a good time, it goes so quickly, well it did.
I was lucky enough to go along to the gig and watch it from the exclusive VIP area at the iconic seaside site.
The Modfather didn't disappoint. In fact, he and his band were on stage for about an hour and 45 minutes and it was pure joy for the thousands of fans who attended.
It's been a while since I saw the Mod icon on stage, he was brilliant at Bedgebury Pinetum in 2019, and of course, thousands saw him at the Hop Farm near Paddock Wood last month and he was back with a bang last night at sunny Dreamland.
It's the first time I have seen a gig at this wonderful venue and I already can't wait to go back.
It's the perfect location for what felt like a fairly intimate gig. Of course, there were thousands of fans there, but because my concert buddy had treated me to a VIP ticket the whole experience was just fantastic.
Of course The Jam and Style Council frontman didn't disappoint one bit and performed his biggest hits from the mighty impressive music career he's had.
There was an eclectic mix of fans in the crowd and of course some hard core Weller ones with some sporting Weller-style hair, but each and every one of them had a banging night enjoying hits like Shout To The Top, That’s Entertainment, You Do Something To Me and of course, A Town Called Malice.
Fans went mad for A Town Called Malice
And before Weller came on, it was Miles Kane, who got the party started. He is best known as the co-frontman of the Last of the Shadow Puppets with the Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner and warmed up the crowd perfectly.
It was so good to be outdoors again watching live music and thankfully it was the perfect night to head down to the seaside location. The weather was glorious.
I can't stress enough what a wonderful location and setting this venue is. Everything ran smoothly, it was easy to get in, easy to get out and extremely well run throughout.
There are a series of of concerts being held at the venue over the summer including Simply Red, Craig David and Tom Grennan and hopefully I'll be heading back down to Thanet very soon for another great night.
