Johnny Marr to perform at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells

The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr will be performing his solo material to fans across the country.
As part of his tour, the musician will be showcasing his latest work to fans at the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells.
The current tour will promote the artist’s fourth studio album, Fever Dreams Pts 1-4.
“I wanted this album to sound classic, and universal,” says the 59-year-old. “That’s how I felt. I wanted to look inside, but make really outward-facing music. And now I’ve finished it, I think it’s the most ambitious solo record I’ve done.”
The songwriter rose to fame as part of The Smiths and, with frontman Morrissey, released a number of successful singles in the 1980s including This Charming Man, Panic and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now.
Since 2013, the musician has focused on his solo material.
His debut album The Messenger entered the Top 10 in the UK Album Chart and his latest album, Fever Dreams Pts 1-4, was released in 2022.
“There’s a set of influences and a very broad sound that I’ve been developing - really since getting out of The Smiths until now,” he says. “And I hear it in this record. There are so many strands of music in it.
“We didn’t do that consciously, but I think I’ve got a vocabulary of sound. And I feel very satisfied that I’ve been able to harness it.”
Johnny Marr will be at the Assembly Hall Theatre on Thursday, July 27. You can book tickets online here.
